Your data is yours. We treat it with care — and definitely don’t sell it to ad networks or pop-up empires.

Your Privacy, Our Promise

We don’t track your popcorn choices, your Letterboxd ratings, or your secret affection for Showgirls. But we do collect a few basics to keep SINephile running smoothly — and to make sure you get the content you signed up for.

1. What We Collect

When you engage with SINephile, we (via Substack) may collect:

  • Your email address (when you subscribe)

  • Your IP address (standard analytics stuff)

  • Engagement data (e.g. opens, clicks, favorites)

If you comment, Substack may associate your account with that action.

2. What We Do With It

We use this information to:

  • Send you newsletters and updates

  • See what kind of content resonates (without individually stalking you)

  • Improve our editorial and outreach strategy

We don’t:

  • Sell your information

  • Share your data with third-party marketers

  • Store any sensitive personal identifiers beyond what the Substack publishing platform requires

3. Third-Party Embeds & Images

SINephile uses embedded media from platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Soundcloud, and Pinterest, which may collect limited data when you interact with them. We encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.

We also publish film stills, promotional imagery, and poster art sourced from publicly available or studio-provided materials. These are used under fair use for commentary, criticism, or educational purposes. For inquiries or image credit concerns, contact us at info [at] impliqo [dot] com.

4. Substack’s Role

SINephile is hosted and distributed through Substack. As such, your data is also subject to Substack’s Privacy Policy. We don’t control Substack’s backend systems, but we trust them to maintain industry-standard protections.

5. Cookies & Analytics

Substack may use cookies for session tracking and performance analytics.

In addition, SINephile uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to better understand reader behavior. These tools collect anonymized traffic data such as page views, time on site, device type, and geographic region.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or social media tracking pixels. Should that change, this policy will be updated accordingly.

6. Data Requests

If you’d like to request a copy of the personal data associated with your subscription or account — or if you’d like your data removed from Substack’s systems — please unsubscribe or contact Substack directly at [email protected].

They’ll verify your identity and respond within a reasonable timeframe, in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

7. Updates

We may update this policy over time. If we make substantial changes, we’ll update the effective date and notify subscribers via post or email.

SINephile believes in watching with intention. We handle your data with the same principle.
